Primary Research
The primary research was conducted by us to collect first-hand information to collect knowledge about the current level of engagement of employees toward their work at Uswatte (Pvt) Ltd. We conducted the primary research directly with the current chairman at Uswatte Mr. Nihal Perera and also we were provided with an opportunity to expand our knowledge on the particular scenario through an interview conducted with the current Assistant Manager Hr at Uswatte MS.Gagani Gunarathne. Below mentioned are a detail breakdown of the data collection methods we used to collect first hand information.
1) Survey
The survey which was conducted with the current chairman at Uswatte paved us an Opportunity to comprehend the general internal processing of the company. This further assisted us in gaining an idea on what areas the problems tend to lie within the organization and how we can make the current staff more engaged and motivated towards work. The survey included 22 questions.
2 Questionnaire
With the approval received by the Chairman at Uswatte we were able to circulate three questionnaires to the staff at Uswatte, covering managers, supervisors and the employees who work at Uswatte. The main basis of preparing these questionnaires was to understand the efforts of employees of Uswatte to split their time and energy between work and the other important aspects of their lives such as family, friends, self-care and personal activities.
3) Interview
Interview was a one-on-one question and answer session which was also conducted with the chairman Mr.Nihal Perera and with the Assistant Hr Manager Ms. Gagani which took place on the same day we went to meet Mr.Nihal at Uswatte. The two interview further provided substantial information on how Uswatte deals with employees and how it supports work life balance. The interview also provided information about the various aspects of employee jobs at Uswatte. It also provided information about work values, commitment to their careers, attitudes towards teams and to which extent employees are satisfied with their careers.
